We have all rolled a chalk between our fingers, used it to mark boards or slates and even walls ;) and gotten a thrill out of it! You can think of soft pastels in the same way, except they are vibrant, highly pigmented, long lasting, and absolutely freeing. The reason artists love soft pastels is the direct contact one has with the medium with no brush-y interference, smudging and blending away with your fingers. Such fun! A forgiving medium, it is ideal for capturing qualities of immediacy especially for plein air sketching.

Would you like to get acquainted with this wonderful medium? This workshop is designed to do that and much more. You will get to learn about tone, color blending, texture and composition, technique demonstration, usage in mixed media and supplementary tools involved. Our focus will be on Landscape creation and by the end of the workshop, not only will you be taking away a completed artwork but be armed with confidence and passion to explore the medium further.

Artist Geetanjali Saini will be leading the workshop. She is a scientist and an artist who has exhibited both in Sweden and India. Her works, landscapes and abstracts, are inspirationally derived from nature. She works mostly with soft pastels, gouache, aquarelle and acrylic. The draw towards soft pastels has been instinctive for her and as such holds the medium closest to her heart.

No prior Arty experience is required.
