Brief itinerary for '"Road Trip From Shimla to Manali (7 night 8 days)"

 


Day 1 Shimla to Sarahan (8th June)

We start our journey from Shimla after the breakfast and drive to Narkanda. Drive all the way to Hatu Peak which is approximately 6kms from Narkanda. Hatu Peak is famous for an ancient temple on the top of the hill that offers you the 360-degree view of different Himalayan ranges. Post lunch we continue on the road to Sarahan in the later half of the day and take an overnight stay at the hotel. Drive Duration from Narkanda to Hatu: 30 mins Trek Duration from Narkanda to Hatu: 2 to 3 hrs. In the evening we will introduction to stargazing and do cosmic meditation with the educators of SciComm.

Day 2 Sarahan to Sangla (9th June)

We begin the second day by visiting famous Bhimakali Temple at Sarahan to attend the early morning ceremony. The temple is made of stones and woods interlocked together in an Indo-Tibetan Style. The complex of the temple has three more small temples dedicated to Narsinghji, Raghunathji and the guardian deity Lankra Veer. Post lunch we continue our journey to Sangla. You will enter the treacherous terrain of Kinnaur at Tranda Dhank from where you will drive uphill all the way to enter Sangla Valley. After settling down at the home stay we will visit the 800 years old Kamru Fort in the Sangla Valley. There we will also have basic orientation of night sky with lazers and VR. We will end the day camping around the Baspa river and sleeping to the gushing sound of the river into a dreamland.

Day 3 Sangla to Kalpa (10th June)

Starting the third day with a early morning walk at Chitkul village, the last habituated village of India. Visit to 500year-old temple of local Diety Maathi in the Chitkul, Kagyupa temple of Sakyamuni Buddha and a km walk to Indo-Tibetan Check post will be the highlights of the day. After lunch we drive back to Sangla and head to Kalpa village. At Kalpa, we take a brisk walk to Roghi Village or Chaka Lake in the evening followed by overnight stay at hotel or homestay. Tonight we will learn the basics of astrophotograpy and light painting by team scicomm.

Day 4 Kalpa to Nako (11th June)

Starting the fourth day at the Kalpa with the spectacular view of Mt. Kinner Kailash from Kalpa at 6050m will leave you mesmerised. Visit monastery and walk amidst the apple orchards of the village will be an experience in itself. It's a perfect way to experience mountain life with mountain people while observing their daily routine in the village. After the lunch, we drive to Nako village. On this drive, you will the variation in the geographical terrain from green to the complete dry Alpine region. Overnight stay at Nako village, the secluded village on the top of the mountain will keep close to the stars and a dreamy night. Astrophotography will be the best from here so keep your cameras ready.

Day 5 Nako to Tabo (12th June)

The secluded village of Nako is a dream destination for those who want to experience the offbeat frontier traveling. Our 5th day starts with the walk around the Nako village which is set on a lake and has few charming monasteries surrounded by poplar and willow trees. It is located near to the Indo-China border and known for its serene, unspoiled, and pleasant village. Once we soak up all the beauty around, we leave for our next best destination Tabothrough the open land of Spiti valley and end the day at hotel or homestay at Tabo. We will end the night by telescopic watch of major planets and star clusters.

Day 6 Tabo to Kaza (13th June)

What could be better than starting your day with the none other than "Ajanta of the Himalayas"? Yes, you read it right, the magnicent preserver of Buddhists legacy in Spiti Valley, the Tabo monastery, one of the oldest monetary in the region. It has series of 9 Temples, 23 Chortens, a Monk's Chamber and amazing galleries of stucco statues, wall painting dated back in 996 AD Learn more about the Buddhist culture and the intrinsic architect with your visit to Dhankar and Key Monastery. A short trek to Dhankar Lake would not only be refreshing and energetic, it would also be the best option to test your tness level high in the Himalayas at an altitude of 4,270 m. An overnight stay at homestay or camp would let you sleep at peace with the thoughts of mystical moments of Tabo to Kaza. Deep sky astrophotograpy along with mythological stories of constellations will follow throughout the night

Day 7 Kaza to Chandra Tal Lake (14th June)

Starting early on our 7th day of traveling across the TransHimalayas region, we walk around Kaza, the administrative headquarter of Spiti Valley which has a market place, hotels, homestay and highest fuel station in the world. After the breakfast, we drive our way through the Komik and Kibber village, the 1st and the 2nd highest village in the world located at 4500 metres and 4270 metres respectively. While the roads are rugged, your soul will be lled with the adrenaline ecstasy of travelling in the toughest yet the most beautiful terrain in the world all the way to the last destination of the day, the beautiful Moon Lake Chandra Tal. An overnight stay at the camps at Chandra Tal Lake will mark the end of day-long adventure. Watch the moon and its beautiful craters with the SciComm Team through advanced telescopes. Plus witness the constellation of scorpio, which will at best of its visibility of the year.

Day 8 Chandra Tal Lake to Manali (15th June)

The last day of our travel will start with the visit to beautiful moon lake, Chandra Tal. For the ones who like to explore uncharted territories on foot, there is a short trek of 6kms to Chandratal Lake from Kunzum Pass. This crescent shaped lake on the northern side offers you the mirror reection of snow clad mountains in the lake leaving you speechless. After exploring the lake, its time to bid farewell to the "Land of Lamas" and head to the greener part of Lahaul Valley to Manali. On the way, we will cross mighty Rohtangla and descend on the serpent road to Manali town. There will be a part of you that you will leave behind in the Spiti Valley hoping to come back and meet once again in future. That's exactly what this Trans-Himalayas journey will do your mind and soul.

Cancellation Policy:
If cancellations are made 30 days before the start date of the trip, 25% of the total tour cost will be charged as cancellation fees.
If cancellations are made 15-30 days before the start date of the trip, 50% of the total tour cost will be charged as cancellation fees.
If cancellations are made within 0-15 days before the start date of the trip, 100% of the total tour cost will be charged as cancellation fees.
