Mt Kanchenjunga is also called as ‘The Five Treasures of Snowsrange’ as the massif has 5 peaks. It is also called as ‘Sewa Lungma’ by the locals and they consider the peak very
sacred and are worshiped. Mt Kanchenjunga the 3rd highest peak in the world and the highest peak in India, the peak is located in the end of the Himalayan range in the border region
of Nepal & India. The peak was 1st successfully climbed in 1955.

Route: Yuksom - Tsoska - Dzongri - Thangshing - Samiti Lake - Goecha La - Tshoka - Yuksom

Average Trek Time: 5-8 hrs per day

Itinerary:

  • Day 01: Reach Yuksom
    Yuksom is a beautiful and peaceful gateway into the trek. It was once the capital of Sikkim. O/N at the Guest House.
  • Day 02: Yuksom to Tsoka
    Elevation: 9840 ft, Distance: 14 km, Trek Time: 5-6 hrs trek
    From Yuksom, the Goechala trail starts just behind the houses after the forest check post. After traveling a short distance, you come across a beautiful V shaped valley of the River Rathong. Although there are probably only 10-12 families living in the village of Tsoka, there is still a Buddhist monastery built here next to the lake. O/N at Camp.
  • Day 03: Tsoska to Dzongri
    Elevation: 13218 ft, Distance: 10 km, Trek Time: 5-6 hrs trek
    We trek through some of the densest Rhododendron forest India has to offer. It offers the first real view of the Himalayan snow peaks including the Mt. Pandim. O/N at Camp
  • Day 04: Dzongri
    Elevation: 13218 ft, Distance: 10 km, Trek Time: 5-6 hrs trek
    Acclimatization day at Dzongri. O/N at Camp
  • Day 05: Dzongri to Thangshing
    Elevation: 12464 ft, Distance: 10 km, Trek Time: 4-5 hrs
    We will walk through lush meadows towards this picturesque valley which is located at the base of the mountain known as Jopine. As we walk by the side of the mountains, we get mind
    blowing view of the snow covered Pandim and Kanchenjunga. O/N at Camp.
  • Day 06: Thangshing to Samiti Lake
    Elevation: 14760 ft, Distance: 7 km, Trek Time: 3-4 hrs
    The Lake Samiti is a wonderful deep lake with crystal clear greenish blue water surrounded by gorgeous mountains. O/N at Camp.
  • Day 07: Samiti Lake to Gocha La and back to Samiti Lake
    Elevation: 16406 ft, Distance: 12 km, Trek Time: 6-7 hrs treks
    We start early today and get to witness the first sun rays hitting Kanchenjunga at the first view point. Mt. Pandim is always to our right and the left is also lined by huge snow walls. We retrace the descending trail
    down to the lake. O/N at Camp.
  • Day 08: Samiti Lake to Tshoka
    Elevation: 9840 ft, Distance: 14 km, Trek Time: 6-7 hrs trek
    The trail goes on the flank on the mountain all along and you move from one mountain to another to another maintaining a constant altitude. O/N at Camp
  • Day 09: Tshoka to Yuksom
    Distance: 14 km, Trek Distance: 5-6 hrs
    Retrace your way from Tshoka to Yuksom. It’s much faster and easier than your trek up. Travel to Darjeeling / Bagdogra.
