Back-Pack-Go! Spiti takes you to the Himalayan heartland. Were going to experience the beauty, culture and of course, the people of a completely different side of Himachal Pradesh. This trip is for those who are looking to explore the hills, those looking to find themselves, those looking to lose themselves and those who just want a break. Break the monotony of the cities and join us for a trip that has been curated for those who appreciate new experiences. Amongst many other things, Spiti is a land of stories. Were going to hear them and maybe write some of our own.
 
HIGHLIGHTS/TRIP OVERVIEW:
- Visit to Key monastery, the biggest monastery in Spiti valley.
- Scenic drive through Rohtang pass on our way to Spiti and back
- Visit to the worlds second-highest post office at Hikkim (14,567 ft)
- Langza-Hikkim-Komic trail
- Visit the magnificent Chandratal and Dhankar lakes
- Explore Mudh, the entry to Pin Valley National Park
- Visit to Gue monastery, home to the 500 yr old mummified monk
 
ITINERARY:
Day 1
Our journey will begin from D-town. We board the bus from Delhi which will be at a sweltering 34°C. We will assemble at 7pm at RK Ashram Metro (Pillar no 9-10) and make our way to Manali.
 
Day 2
We reach Manali in the wee hours of the morning. After breakfast and refreshments, we start our journey towards Kaza. Its a 5-hour journey. Well make our way through the fabled Rohtang Pass and onwards to the district center of Spiti at Kaza. We will stop en route for lunch and reach our homestays in the evening. Evening at leisure.
 
Day 3
Were diving right in. Today we head to the Langza-Hikkim- Komik Trail. After breakfast, our first stop will be Langza, The Fossil Village. These mountains were once beaches. (WHAAAT!) Yep. Owing to which this place boasts of a very high number of fossils that you could find literally, just walking around. (Step aside, Ross Geller) From Langza we will take the trail to Komik, the home of the worlds highest post office. You can be hipster AF and bring your own stamps from home and whatnot. Well end the trail in Komik; the highest village in Asia. Spend the evening exploring Kaza.
 
Day 4
After an early breakfast, were going to the iconic Key Monastery. If were lucky well get to witness the morning rituals of the monks of the monastery. Next stop: Chandratal Lake. The moon-shaped lakes crystal blue expanse is a sight to behold. Well relax by the lake for a little while before making our way back to Kaza. Dinner at the homestay.
Day 5
After filling our stomachs with reserves for the day, well make our way to the Dhankar Gompa. This used to be the capital of Spiti. Dhankar is also famous for its fort ruins and the lake. We will climb to see the lake nearby. After this short trek, we make our way into the Pin Valley National Park. Were going to the innermost village of the national park. Mudh is a hamlet surrounded by beautiful mountains on all sides. Well check-in at our homestays and relax.
 
Day 6
Today is a day to relax! Well be doing some nothing and follow it up some more nothing. Dont worry though, the view wont let you down. You can sit by the river, walk through the fields or just explore the village. You can also just sit in your room and read a book. You do you.
This day is to relax! To put the yay in yay-cation.
 
Day 7
After breakfast, well go to see the renowned mummy of Geu. This 650-year-old mummy is the only one of its kind in the world. From Geu, well head to the ancient town of Tabo and check-in at our homestay. Experience local delicacies for dinner.
 
Day 8
Tabo is most famous for the oldest continuously-functioning monastery in India. The monastery is a work of wonder. It houses paintings and murals from 900 years ago! It also has a centuries-old library which houses a collection of ancient Buddhist scriptures. Tabo town is bustling with activity. This is the last leg of our journey to Spiti. This is also a great place to see all that Spiti has to offer. From Spitian crafts to local delicacies. meeting the locals to exploring the village. Tabo has it all covered.
 
Day 9
After breakfast, we bid farewell to the valley. Well get into our vehicles and head on towards Manali. Well have a couple of hours to kill in Manali town and then well board our buses to Delhi in the evening by 6 pm.
 
Day 10
We arrive at Delhi in the morning by 10 am. Bid farewell to your Vagabond family. Until next time folks!
