Two weekends packed with creativity.
 
Children will be encouraged to create based on an analysis of stories, combined with their own experiences, imagination and perception.
 
There will be individual work and group discussions. Objects and pictures will be introduced to enhance creativity.
 
Each child will take home a unique combination of writing and art.
 
FOUR SESSIONS:
Saturday and Sunday, 11.30 AM - 1.30 PM, two weeks
Jun 30 and July 1, July 7 and 8.
Participants need to be present for all four sessions.
 
Please note - activities and discussions are age-appropriate, designed to benefit the children aged eight to ten the most. Requests to accommodate younger or older children will not be entertained.
 
Fee: Rs. 1,000 per participant, inclusive of all materials.

About the resource person:
Sonali gave up a career as an advertising copywriter, leaving Ogilvy and Mather to follow her passion – bringing children and books together. She joined a leading school in Bangalore as librarian. There, she worked with children from Classes I to X and learnt what it takes to enthuse them to read. Today, she conducts workshops for students in various literary topics, like reading enrichment, drama, public speaking and creative writing.
 
Institutions visited include: Bishop Cottons Girls, Sri Aurobindo Memorial School, Sindhi School, Carmel Convent, Deccan international, Vidya Niketan, Brigade School, Kenmore, St. Paul’s, Presidency, St. Joseph’s Indian, AV Education, Kindle Kare, Genie Kids, Euro Teacher Training Institute, The Teacher Foundation and Sishya (Hosur).
 
Sonali also conducts workshops for parents and teachers on how to encourage the reading habit and creativity in students. She set up the library at Vidya Shilp Academy in 1997. Her Harry Potter quizzes have been much appreciated, at the Brigade School, Atta Galatta and the Bangalore Literature Festival 2014. She has conducted Harry Potter Quizzes at Lahe Lahe and currently runs a popular Potterheads Meet there.
 
Sonali is interested in unconventional methods of education and in writing about these, for the ‘Deccan Herald’, ‘Teacher Plus magazine’ and ‘Oxford University Press e-newsletter’. .
