Matheran is a splendid and the most popular hill station in Maharashtra, covering an area of 8 sq. kms. in the Sahyadris.
The fort derived its name Peb from the 'Goddess Pebi' at the base of the fort.
From here we also see the pinnacles of Navara-Navari, Bhatoba and Irshaal, along with forts of Chanderi, Prabalgad and Malanggad and also Nakhind.
