Kashmir Flood Relief Packages - Donationbr>Information for Kashmir disaster and how you can help.
There are many citizens who need your help, including colleagues, their families, friends and patients of East West.
We are collecting and sending items through reliable contacts at the NGO called Goonj. You may also deliver directly to their office. (Please also see attached list from the NGO)
YOU CAN DROP OFF SUPPLIES at East/West Clinic and Hospital 24/7 until 1st week October.

ITEMS NEEDED:
- Warm clothes you don't need or use. It is soon going to snow and winter there is extremely cold. All sizes and age groups needed.
- Unopened boxes or cans of baby formula and milk bottles with teats
- Tents
- Bed sheets
- Torches with batteries inserted but reversed.
- Shoes – old but usable. All sizes.
If you shop for any supplies in bulk and inform the shop keeper or pharmacy you are doing this for Kashmir; most, if not all - will sell it to you at cost.
In case you wish to involve your children’s schools or your organization; you may wish to consider making packages with the following suggested contents for a family of 2.
Even any of the categories below will help in case you are unable to provide a full family package.
Please label the package with content list or sticker or let our office know and they shall label and seal it for you.
Please add or subtract any items. Every little bit counts. Sizing of clothing is mentioned in case you shop instead of emptying out your closets.
I. To stay warm:
- 2 sweaters (1 medium and 1 large)
- 2 thermal bottoms / long johns/ leggings (1 medium and 1 large)
- 2 pairs of socks (Large size)
II. To sleep and bathe:
- 2 blankets
- 2 single bed sheets
- 2 towels medium sized
III. For Shelter/ for nights:
- 1 tarpaulin sheet (12 X 18 feet) or 2 -4 person tent. Tarpaulin available in AZAD market and are colloquially called Tripals.
- 2 rolls of plastic rope (neighbourhood hardware or general stores have them)
- 6 candles (the Blind school near Oberoi hotel has sturdy 4-5 inch long ones in packs of 6)
- 3 match boxes
- 1 plastic torch / flashlight with batteries inserted but reversed
IV. Hygiene products/ toiletries:
- 1 bar of soap
- 1 tube of vaseline
- 2 toothbrushes
- 1 tube of toothpaste
- 2 small packets of detergent ( travel size- they come in strips - neighbourhood general stores stock them)\
- 1 packet sanitary pads
- 1 comb
V. For tea/ chai and meals: (nothing perishable please)*
- 1 box of tea leaves
- 1 can of powdered milk
- 1 packet or box of sugar (1 kg)
- 2 packets of cookies/ biscuits
- 6 Maggie or Ramen noodles or similar
- 6 zip lock
VI. Kitchenware:*
- 2 steel spoons
- 2 steel glasses.
- 1 small saucepan
*It’s nice to have category V and VI together
Each ‘family’ package can be bound tight with the bed sheets and then with the tarpaulin. The tarp shall be used for shelter as a tent or ground mat by survivors.
- Please also send/leave a note with your name and contact number so we can hand over to Goonj.
- Collection at our locations shall continue till approx.1st week of October – please call us to check if any more trucks or aircrafts are carrying supplies to Kashmir after this time.
We once again thank those who donated and emptied out their closets for victims of the Tsunami and Kashmir earthquake in the past.
