Bir Billing the paragliding capital of India, is a noted center for ecotourism, spiritual studies, and meditation.  Bir is also home to a Tibetan refugee settlement with several Buddhist monasteries and a large stupa. The Bir-Billing area is a popular site for paraglider pilots, both Indian and visitors from all over the world. The village continues to host periodic international competitions and events.

The paragliding launch site is in the meadow at Billing (14 km north of Bir), at an elevation of 2400 meters, while the landing site and most tourist accommodations are in the village of Chowgan (also spelled Chaugan), on the southern edge of Bir.

ITINERARY

Day 0 (Friday Evening): Delhi to Bir

Assemble at ISBT Kashmiri gate or Akshardham Metro Station. Leave New Delhi at 8 PM for Bir Billing trip.

Day 1 (Saturday): Bir to Billing Trek. Camp Stay

Arrive at Bir, Trekking from Bir to Billing. (10 km / 4-5 hr). Reach Bir by 900 Hrs and freshen up, have breakfast. Start trek at 1000 hrs, trek passing through Pahari villages and mountain stream. After trekking for 4-5 hr you will reach Billing, which is paragliding take-off point. Dinner and Overnight stay in Dome tents at Billing on a twin/triple sharing basis.

Day 2 (Sunday): Paragliding from Billing to Bir

After breakfast at Billing, we will have Paragliding session of 15 to 30 min which starts from Billing and will land at Bir. The vehicle can be arranged for Bhattu where you can visit Palpung Sherabling monastery which is around 7 km. (Optional) Leave Bir for New Delhi.

* Reach Delhi on Monday in the morning.
