To capture truly great shots, you need to go where the birds are. Follow us to make sure your excursion pays off.

bird-photography trip can be a great way to both enjoy a hard-earned vacation and expand your portfolio

Folotlab Learning is organizing a 3 days Beginners Bird Photography trip to Satlal.

We will meet for a brief introduction and orientation, discussing what we will be covering during the workshop, which is 100% practical photography to give us the maximum time with the birds.

We'll spend the day taking photos of a various bird of different species. A variety of posed and flight shots will be taken, spending a good amount of time with each bird, with a maximum of 7-8 different birds being photographed throughout the day, this will depend on the group's wishes and needs on the day.

The workshop will start with a short introduction, explanation of the day, introduction to the Fotolab Learning team, and orientation, then we get to 'work' photographing the birds.  We will break for lunch around midday - lunch is not included, feel free to bring a packed lunch, or get something in the onsite restaurant.  There will then be further photography through the afternoon, and you will then have the option to stay on and have a chat and look through the photos from the day or make your way to Hotel.

What do I need to know?

A reasonable knowledge of your camera would be useful, but our Mentor will help you get the right settings for each situation, with 1-2-1 mentor available for everyone throughout the day, as well as group instruction when appropriate.

What do I need to bring?
  • A camera!  This is mainly aimed at DSLRs and CSC (compact System, or Mirrorless, cameras) of any brand, Daniel has used and instructed on just about all makes and models of camera.
  • A monopod or tripod could be useful for some shots but is by no means essential.
  • Memory Cards/Spare Batteries.  We'll be trying many different techniques and it would be a shame to feel limited by the number of exposures you could take.  Ensure any spare batteries are fully charged.
  • Any lenses/accessories you may have.  You never know when you might need them.
  • Footwear and Clothing are suitable for a day outside, including wet weather gear (hopefully not required).
  • Lunch.  Lunch is not included in the cost of the day - please remember to bring something with you to eat, or some means of paying for something in the tea room.
How does the workshop run?

The workshop runs for 6 hours (including lunch break), and is purely a practical photography session, with a mixture of outdoor and indoor locations.  Everyone gets some 1-2-1 time, which can be used to address any aspect of the camera, photography, or anything else you wish to discuss.

what is the group size?

Bird Photography Workshop with a maximum of 10 participants.

Cancellation

A full refund will be made if the cancellation is made at least 7 days prior to the workshop date, 50% refund if cancellation is made at least 72 hours before the workshop, no refunds for cancellations after this time.
