KRITI FILM CLUB in collaboration with Kunzum Cafe invites you for an evening of Gender and Sexuality Films by PSBT followed by a discussion.

SCHEDULE

• Zara Nazar Utha Ke Dekho (23 mins/ English/ 2018) by Anindya Shankar Das. The documentary juxtaposes personal narratives of cruising from the LGBTQ community, against diverse visuals of Indian public spaces, revealing different facets and complexities of urban cruising.
• Breathe (22 mins/ English/ 2018) by Anushka Shivdasani Rovshen and Madhuri Mohindar. The Film explores the intersections between identity, sexuality, mental health, and the many alleys through which women negotiate freedom and dignity. It interweaves the stories of Swati and Ray, as they redefine the boundaries of intimacy, desire, and relationships.
• Please Mind the Gap (20 mins/ 2018) by Mitali Trivedi and Gagandeep Singh. Delhi meets at the metro. Passengers’ board from different places but for a brief moment in time, they are all headed in the same direction. We share one such ride with our co-traveler Anshuman, a transman. As the stations pass, we begin to look at the metro space from his perspective. His is the story of reclaiming public space and one’s own self. The doors will open on the quest. Please mind the gap.

About the filmmakers:

Anindya Shankar Das is direction graduate from the Film and Television Institute of India. He is a filmmaker and photographer involved in all aspects of film technology. He is especially keen on exploring the themes of culture and ecology. Anindya has shot and edited a number of documentaries, music videos, experimental and short films and is currently working on the script of a feature-length film.

Anushka Shivdasani Rovshen’s independent film work explores conditions of the human mind. They have been screened at the Gene Siskel Film Center, Chicago, as well as several international festivals at Karachi, Amsterdam, Toronto, and Prague, among others. Anushka taught documentary filmmaking at Sophia Polytechnic College. Her company Running Cow films has directed and produced films for GE India, HP Printers, DHL, and Harley Davidson, amongst others.

Madhuri Mohindar has directed various documentaries exploring immigration, race, and gender including Can't Hide Me, My Kashmir and Red Roses, which have screened at New York, LA, Kenya, and Afghanistan. She has created award-winning multimedia campaigns and documentaries in India and the US for various non-profits including Breakthrough and Dasra.

Mitali Trivedi has a Master’s in Gender Studies from Ambedkar University, Delhi, and is a research scholar at the Department of Sociology, University of Delhi. She is involved in theatre and has been working with AbhigyanNatya Association - a theatre organization for over half a decade.

Gagandeep Singh is a lawyer and theatre practitioner. He is deeply interested in the historical evolution of laws and holds a Master’s Degree in Environmental Law.

About the Kriti Film Club:

This is an educational initiative of a not-for-profit organization' Kriti team'. The Kriti Film Club screens and shares documentary films on development, environment, and socially relevant issues, in an effort to influence mindsets and behavior towards equity, just and peaceful world. It also curates issue based film festivals and organizes a neighborhood, school, college or institutional film shows. The Kriti Film Club has been screening documentaries regularly and independently in Delhi NCR since 2000 to promote 'thought-provoking cinema'.
