Learn Shadow Puppetry
Are you curious about learning shadow puppetry? Do you want to awaken your creative self? Then come and explore this age-old tradition of Shadow Puppetry involving the multi-disciplines of Visual Art, Sculpture, Dance and Theatre.
Our facilitator will explore new experiments in integrating contemporary visual and performing arts of Nagaland tattooing culture.
We will learn and engage in real-time exercises to create our own shadow puppets and manipulate them drawing from our stories and perspectives. By using various props like bamboo sticks, handmade paper, paints, etc, we will be involved in making stencils, creating puppets and also performing the act later on.
Some outcomes of this workshop will be:
In-depth knowledge of puppet-making traditions
– A brief introduction to Naga aesthetics
– Introduction to shadow puppetry techniques and dance like movements
