Latif Khan: Folk and Sufi Music

Manganiyars are the traditional minstrels of Rajasthan who for centuries have traversed the desert playing for Maharajas, Moghuls, and rich landowners and at weddings, and feasts.

The Manganiars consider themselves descendants of the Rajputs and are renowned as folk musicians of the Thar Desert.

Their songs are passed on from generation to generation as a form of the oral history of the desert.

Mostly the songs are in praise of Hindu Deities and celebrating Hindu Culture.

Their rhythmic music will make you sway and dance.

The concert will be followed by a scrumptious Rajasthani dinner.
