We are the local chapter of an international organisation started in the 1930's in Malaysia, called The Hash House Harriers; (commonly referred to as The Hash). There are About 2500 Hashes all over the world. The "Bombay Hash House Harriers" was started in 1983 and currently has over 200 members on its mailing list. Bombay Hashers hail from a wide variety of countries (India, U.K., Australia,Sweden, , U.S.A., and others) and represent a diversity of occupations in the corporate professional, diplomatic, educational and NGO realms.
"The Bombay Hash House Harriers" generally meet once every month on the last Sunday. Our main activity and the raison d'etre' of the Hash is to run We convene at a pre-arranged spot which might be in the heart of the city or might be several hours away. We meet to socialise and to enjoy a variety of settings that a particular area has to offer (recent venues have included Khandala, New Bombay, Elephanta Caves, Malabar Hill, Bandra, Thane. We have run from Hilton towers, Marine Plaza, ITC Grand Maratha, Grand Hyatt, Taj Landsend, President, Renaissance, Orchid, The Park etc.
Further we have weekends out of town. Every Easter week-end i.e. Good-Friday, the Saturday and Easter Sunday the Hash goes out to a hill station and spends two nights at the specified locale, may it be Mahableshwar, Matheran etc. Also, we generally try to create a week-end hash out of town on every fiftieth run, i.e. say Run Nos. 150, 200, 250 etc.
