Into The Wild (Night trek to Kalsubai)
It's time to conquer the highest point in Maharashtra!
We're heading to Mount Kalsubai this weekend. It being the highest peak in Maharashtra commands respect & can test you mentally & physically, but the best view comes after the hardest climb & the view atop this Sahyadrian beauty will definitely leave you breathless!
What's even more exciting is that we've decided to trek at night & reach the top just in time for the sunrise. The weather will be chilly and the night will be starry. So join us & make the most of your 'Sun'day!

Difficulty level: Moderate-Challenging
Base village: Bari
Summit height: 1,646 m / 5,400 ft
Time taken to climb/descend: 3.5-4 hrs climb / 2.5 hrs descent
Distance of trek: 5.5 km
Duration: 1 night - 1 day
 
Meeting point: Kasara stn ticket counter (Saturday 11:15 pm)
 
Departure point: Kasara stn ticket counter (Sunday 1:00 pm)

Itinerary:
11:15 pm: Board the 8:50 pm Kasara Fast from CST on Saturday night and meet the Vagabond team at Kasara station ticket counter by 11:15 pm.
11:30 pm: We board privately booked vehicles and head to Bari, where we will be commencing our trek. It'll take us approximately an hour to reach the village.
1:00 am: We reach Bari, rest for a while and get ready to start the trek.
2:00 am: Gear up, pack your bags and get your torches out! It's gonna be a long and dark climb to the top. We will make a few halts on the way to grab a snack or a drink.
6:00 am: We reach Kalsubai temple in time for the sunrise. You get a beautiful view of Bhandardara's Arthur lake from the summit.
7:30 am: We start our descent. Finally, you get a view of the surroundings you climbed through in the night.
10:00 am: We reach back down and grab a quick breakfast.
11:00 am: Time to head back to Kasara station.
12:00 pm: Adios! Back to the mundane city life. Until next time, Vagabonds!

Things to carry:
 
-Snacks (non-perishable)
-Packed dinner (to eat on the train)
-Drinking water (Min 2 ltr)
-Warm clothes (it gets VERY windy at the summit)
-Sweets/energy bars/Glucon D
-Torch - VERY IMPORTANT (Headlamp is preferable)
-Camera (optional)
 
 
Please note:
 
-Please DO NOT miss the 8:50 pm Kasara Fast from CST station. Feel free to board this train from any other station (Byculla 8:58 pm, Dadar 9:05 pm, Kurla 9:12 pm, Ghatkopar 9:16 pm, Mulund 9:28 pm, Thane 9:32 pm) but if you miss this train, you will not be able to join us for the trek. Meet us at Kasara stn ticket counter by 11:15 pm. Plan accordingly.
-Please eat dinner and come or carry packed dinner to eat in the train.
-This is a trek and not a nature trail, we will be ascending and descending slopes through the course of the trek.
-Please wear sturdy closed footwear that won't tear. And do not carry sling bags or any bag that dangles. Try keeping your hands free at all times.
-People with vertigo or phobia of heights should reconsider joining this trek as there are steep climbs through ladders.
-For those of you who haven't trekked before, don't worry, we at Vagabond encourage you to take your time and have a great experience climbing with us. A Vagabond trek isn't about speed, it's about the group experience. For those of you who have trekked before, we encourage you to encourage the beginners and help them through the way.
