Summer vacations are here and the Leon’s World Centre for Holistic Learning and Development is making sure that the kids will enjoy every moment of them while enriching their minds as well. In the month of April is a series of events that will engage not only the children but their parents as well.

To set the ball rolling will be the workshop on creative writing at Leon’s World Centre for Holistic Learning and Development, to be held on 15th April. It will guide young minds on the process of moving through the steps of thinking to feeling and writing.

Creative writing goes beyond facts and focuses on emotions and feelings that form the central point of the writing process. The workshop conducted by Ms.Archana Bora will circulate around the three topics:

  • To judge or not to judge
  • Language writing
  • Haiku – which is the Japanese style of writing short poetry in just three lines or about 10 -15 words.

The workshop will begin with ‘Expression of Simple feelings’ in the haiku format and will be followed by using ‘Languages to see Changing Perspectives’.  The workshop will close with ‘Descriptive Writing’. Participants will understand and imbibe the three basic tenets of creative writing. The younger children between the ages of 4 – 10 years and their parents can participate in the Mathathon on the same day, 15th April. Here, they can discover that maths can be fun and creative too!

On the 22nd of April, Leon’s World will be hosting the play Vikram Betal. Parents may well recall the stories of King Vikram and the mischievous ghoul Betal from their childhood days and here at Leon’s World they can watch their children get hooked to this unique story as well.

Staged by Magical Whispers, the other interesting aspect of the performance is that the story will be enthusiastically presented using life-size puppets which are crafted entirely from recycled materials; thus, extending an important message of environmental conservation to the children as well. Drama and dance will enthral the kids as Betal tries his hardest to hoodwink the brave and clever King Vikram and give him the slip. The play has been well received at Under The Peepal Tree Festival where it was staged last month.Magical Whispers has had a long association with Leon’s World where several of their plays have been hosted including the Brahmaputra –The Story of a Mysterious River. Founded by Shraddha Sheth, Kavita Rajput and Madhuri Kale, Magical Whispers adheres to its vision of bringing alive the passion for performance and spreading it amongst children. They bring epic stories and folk tales to life alive through recycled art. A combination of Dance, Drama, Puppetry and Songs – they present the perfect recipe to create magic for every child.Focusing on the development of mind and body, the Leon’s World Centre for Holistic Learning and Development is bringing the benefits of yoga to the parent-child relationship on Sunday, 29th April, 2018. Ms Rashmi Ramesh, a trainer from Yogi Today will be conducting the Parent-Child Yoga Workshop. The workshop has been specially designed to help kids develop spatial and self-awareness through use of their body and senses, strengthen parent-child bonding, build muscular strength and enhance imagination.Keeping in mind that children have a short attention span and to ensure that they are entertained as well as enlightened the workshop will also incorporate elements of Music, Stories and Poetry. It’s going to be the perfect way to spend a Sunday in the summer vacations – this is one vacation when kids will not be claiming to be ‘bored!’
