Konkan, also known as the Konkan Coast, is the western coastline of India. It consists of the coastal districts of the western Indian states of Maharashtra, Goa, and Karnataka. What is important to note here is each community has a distinctive style of cooking and use a vast variety of spices and ingredients.
One of the Co-hosts, Prasad is a native of the region, having grown up in Udupi. He has designed a menu reminiscent to his childhood home. He will be joined by Pratyusha who has hosted several unique culinary Openouts. Expect great seafood and the chance to explore a new palate, this is regional Indian cuisine at its best , as it highlights lesser known sub-region cuisines.

This experience will highlight a few of the dishes using influences from different communities and cuisines while also adding our own personal touch to each dish.

Cocktail
A cocktail made of Sol Kadhi ( coconut milk and Kokum).
Appetiser
Prawn Chilli
Prawns slow cooked with tomato, tamarind, mustard and chilli.
Chicken Sukka , saraswat style
For this dish we will be using goan and saraswat influences , with chicken cooked with mustard , khus khus (poppy seeds) and coconut.
Batate Gojju
This Konkani blockbuster dish is an amalgamation of mashed potatoes, coriander, ginger and green chillies blended with yoghurt and tempered with mustard seeds. This is simplicity itself.
Main course
Meenu Gassi
This coconut and tamarind based fish curry is cooked with Byadgi chillies , black pepper, coriander and fennel seeds resulting in a tangy flavourful broth. The curry would be served with red rice.
Mangalorean Muslim style Mutton Biriyani
Extremely flavourful Biriyani cooked with blended spices, garlic, ginger, coriander, yoghurt among others. The essence of the Biriyani is in the layering of the meat and the rice that brings out sinful aroma. As a personal touch, the host will be adding sauteed mushrooms and potatoes to the dish for a tried and tested unique flavour.
Dessert
Mangalore Buns with Modak
The dessert will pay homage to two konkan regional communities , Mangalore and Koknashta. Here we will have traditional Manglorean buns filled with koknastha style modak filling made with jaggery and coconut.
