YatiGati is a performance series organised by The Temple of Fine Arts and Atta Galatta. The purpose of the series is to stage the dialogue between the artist and the audience.
Dr. Swarnamalya Ganesh is a well known Sadir (Bharatanatyam) dancer, dance historian, choreographer and tutor. She is a front ranking soloist with over 30 years of experience. She combines research and performance to bring many stunning performances for audiences around the world. She holds a Ph. D in Dance History from the University of Madras. She is a senior disciple of Gurus K J Sarasa, the Thruvalaputhur Kalyani Grand daughters and a few other hereditary artistes. Her performance-series titled “From The Attic” is based on her research and reconstruction of various lost repertoires and embodied learnings. She is the Director of Ranga Mandira Academy of World Dance/ Performance and Indic Studies. Swarnamalya is a Fulbright Fellow and a visiting faculty to Universities in India and abroad designing special courses on dance history and learnings. She has authored one book so far and is at the verge of finishing her next. She also writes regularly to many national and international journals. She is also a popular media person and has acted in select feature films that have given her critical acclaim and mass appreciation around the world.
