Aakhri Sawal is a realistic play by eminent Marathi playwright Vasant Kanetkar (1973). 

The play is a touching story of a young, beautiful girl and her mother when their entire world turns upside down as they have an encounter with a simple health problem which eventually takes the shape of a deadly disease

The play shows a miraculous bond of mother and her child. Mukta who is a doctor by profession shows a brave and cheerful front to the world but is completely helpless as she’s witnessing her daughter’s slow death. Gradually, the others in the house get to know the secret. Everyone in the family puts up a brave face to each other including the protagonist Nandu who is in such a young age but is happily and cheerfully ready to encounter the fate of destiny. Everybody is trying to get away from the mere thought that the finite end would approach sooner than ever and they cannot evade the last question of Nandu’s life ebbing away.
