The Nizamuddin area of Delhi is a special microcosm. It is a continuously living urban village that is 700 years old. And in these centuries, it has preserved its customs and traditions. And this feast is a testimony of that. The foods served in this feast are prepared by the local women by following the traditions of their family kitchens since the start. All the food uses fresh ingredients (no refrigeration, no preservatives) and is prepared by the Zaika-e-Nizamuddin women's organization, an independent women's enterprise, which was initiated in 2012 under the Nizamuddin Urban Renewal Initiative of the Aga Khan Development Network. This group is an initiative that is praiseworthy as it has given the women a platform to be self-sufficient while also building their confidence as it shows them that their inherent skills of cooking and kitchen work carry an economic value that is appreciated by others. The group also engages in saving and internal lending on a monthly basis.
In addition, there is a heritage walk available that is led by the people of the locality, who have organized themselves under a group 'Sair-e-Nizamuddin'.
And now the most exciting part, the menu details:
• Welcome Drink: Masala chai
• Starter: Chicken fry / Chawal ka peetha with moongfali ki chutney
• Main Course: Daal gosht / Palak paneer, Mutter Pulao | Rajma
• Bread: Ulta Tawa ki roti, bathua parantha, gud ka cheela
• Dessert: Kulhad kheer
