We've read books on how to win friends and influence people.
Our earliest memories consist of saying "Hello" and being polite to relatives and acquaintances of our parents.
Listing down 'excellent interpersonal skills' on our resume is considered a no-brainer.
The HR folks at our companies deem it necessary to train us in the ways of body-language/non-verbal communication.
So much about communication is about how we conduct ourselves in the world outside!
But,
What about the way we've been communicating with ourselves?
Especially when almost 90% of it occurs subconsciously.
'Be You For You' is an expressive writing workshop that includes the techniques of expressive writing as prescribed by Dr. James Pennebaker for self-discovery through intra-personal communication.
Be You For You is for anyone who wants to:
- Initiate their journey of self-discovery
- Explore and express themselves in different ways
- Improve on how they communicate with themselves and with the people around them
- Learn how to be their own confident
Who can participate in the workshop?
- The workshop is open for all working professionals above 21 years of age.
- As the name suggests, the workshop is a way of using writing and art to explore and understand the self a little better.
- Expressive writing is NOT creative writing – so there is no emphasis on grammar, punctuation or even spellings.
- Language is also NOT a barrier, so you do not have to be fluent in English (though a blend of English and Hindi would be the medium of communication during the workshop)
- Participants do not have to consider themselves to be a writer or as someone who knows how to express themselves to want to participate in this workshop.
- Research shows that individuals who are not comfortable speaking up and sharing their thoughts benefit a lot more from such workshops.
Takeaways:
- Gain insights into sense of self
- Learn how to be more accepting of self
- Channelize thoughts and feelings more constructively
