Creating Childhood Memories

Buillon, 08 Apr 2017

A good Tailor to copy some dressesbr>I am looking for a good tailor. Someone who can copy, exactly copy, my favourite dresses.
Please recommend anyone whom you have personally had a great experience with.
I've tried the generic "go to Khan Market - plenty of great tailors there " route - and got nothing nice to show for it

If you can also recommend a place that can make on order, that would be terrific too.

thanks

Any music enthusiasts on this sitebr>I am a returning in NRI living in Mumbai.  I love singing (usually bathroom singing) and would like to get together a group of fellow expats / returning Indians, to have regular karaoke sessions.  However, given the distances and the great roads in Mumbai (of course I am being sarcastic) it becomes difficult to meet regularly.

Recently at an expat function, I met with two young guys (brothers) who have set up this website singchana.com, which is a free online karaoke singing portal that allows users to sing Hindi and English songs, as well smaller-but-growing numbers of songs in other Indian and foreign languages.  While it is early days for these guys, I think it is a very good platform for us to form a karaoke group.

Anyone interested?

Frequent Travel to Agrabr>I will need  to go to Agra twice a week for the next few months and my options are to travel by train or road.
AM not too keen on trains - I prefer the flexibility of having a car at my disposal - but here is where I need help
Services that I have found offer very expensive luxury cars with polished drivers et al and those will eat up my budget fast. Other places have shown me tired ( even mosquito filled ) indicas with smelly interiors.
Can anyone help me find a nice, clean, safe (esp safe) and not too expensive service?

Home cooked food !br>Hey Guys

I want to recommend a friend of mine who does brilliant service of providing home cooked food around South Delhi area. She wants to expand her business a little more, so here I m to promote her as we all know how difficult it is to get good hygenic food with less oil and high on nutrients unlike the market food. She also provides low fat diet food as per the requirement. She deals on a min of 5 days a week and preferably group bookings. So its a great advantage for expats staying together who would like to relish a variety of Indian food . I can totally recommend the quality and taste of her food.

She also does catering for small gathering of 15-20 people where an Indian cuisine or an assortment of various other cuisines can be planned .

For further clarification, plz refer to the menu below:

DINNER:

- CHOLEY
- JEERA RICE
- 2 PARANTHAS
- 1 VEGETABLE
- CUCUMBER RAITA
- PAPAD / CHUTNEY / PICKLE
- SALAD
- DRINK / DESSERT

The above meal will cost INR150 and extra chapattis/paranthas can be orderes @ 10 per piece.
Non veg meal can also be planned @ INR190.

Is parenting becoming 'different/difficult' for returning indians?br>Hie,
Wondering how it is for parents who have been moving places/countries with their children. Does your relationship with your child start seeming different after the return ? Is the cultural difference having any effect on how your child listens to you or behaves in day to day life ? are you enjoying day to day parenting ? is your child full of self expression and life ?

Run & fundraise for kidsbr>Hi guys!

I am running the Airtel Delhi Half Marathon and am really excited!
What adds to my excitement is an opportunity to make this run a lot more meaningful! I am raising funds through an online fundraising platform called Wishberry.in for Teach for India! It gave me an opportunity to work for underprivileged kids.... I always wanted to do this!
You guys can donate to my cause! Or better still... run the marathon and make your own page! Lets do these kids some good!

Third Culture Kids - Which language do you speak?br>Hi All. This is something that I am now experiencing and don't quite know how to do this. I read about this french couple who lived in Germany, and the language rules were - German in School and Public places, French with parents and English television programmes. Now that sounds a little idealistic to me.
Has anyone had any experience with their children here?

Baby and Mommy Groupsbr>Hey there. I am a new mother. Our little girl is now going to be 6 months old soon - and I wanted to join a Mommy/Baby group. Maybe a coffee group where we can bring our little ones and let them play while we chat?

Baby trying to stand at 6mo. Is that too early?br>I need some experienced mommies telling me what they think - my baby will be 6 mo old soon. And while I am proud of her, I find it a little worrying that she is already trying to stand up. The doctor says not to worry - but my mother keeps telling me on the phone to stop the baby form standing up before she is about 10 mo old. Now I want to go with what the doctor says - she probably knows best, right? but , i do worry that it might be too early. what do you ladies ( and daddies ) think?

Landlord not paying to fix a broken heaterbr>My friend has a difficult landlord and I wanted to ask if anyone has any ideas on how to deal with this situation. My friend has been living as a Paying Guest with this family for about 5 months. Now, a few days ago, the single heater in her room stopped working.
The landlord refuses to replace the heater, and refuses to fix it also. He claims that it is my friend's responsibility and that she needs to replace it Is it? I mean, she did not bash it up or anything - it just stopped working with no warning.
The heater does not cost so much -but it is the principle of the thing.
Any advice?

Advice on Dental treatment and Good Dentist recommendation neededbr>My great aunt will be visiting me in February. She mentioned something about taking advantage of her long visit time and getting some dental work done. My questions to you all are:-
1) Does is make sense to do this here in Chennai?
2) I know it will be cheaper here than in the US where my Aunt lives, but is the cost difference significant?
3) Can anybody recommend a good dentist - pref. someone who can treat older patients.
thank you all.

Seem to be falling ill a lotbr>I seem to be falling ill a lot since I got in. And no "serious" illness. No stomach issues. Just feeling ill. Feel like I have the flu 3 weeks out of the month. The doctor don't seem to find anything really wrong, and my doctor ( bless her) doesn't want to fill me up with antibiotics for no reason.
She says it might just be that my system needs time to adjust to new environments.
Has anyone else gone through this?

Give us a hand in helping them!br>Hello,

I would like to invite you to a coffee morning for a noble cause. Norooz ( Iranian new year ) is very close and MAHAK would like to cheer up children with cancer with some new clothes. This is what our gathering is about :) There will be plenty of cakes and cookies. You can enjoy your coffee and at the same time learn a little bit more about MAHAK.

Your contribution will be sent to a NGO in Iran called Mahak. The organization concentrates on children with cancer at a national and international level in the three domains of charity, treatment and research. My mother is a cancer survivor and I got to know them thru her. With support from MAHAK, parents can concentrate on the treatment of their children and the children, themselves, change their concern from a grim current condition to a joyful hope for a  better future. MAHAK ensures that children with cancer are never refused treatment due to poor financial state.

You can have a look into their website and get more information. http://www.mahak-charity.org

When: Sat 11th Feb 2012 from 10:00 to 13:00
Where:World Spa East Club house, South city one, Sec30, Gurgaon

Best Regards,

Adileh

Back to India after 15 yrs!!! I don't know where home is anymorebr>Ok, seems like I am the first to post here  - so please bear with me if this seems irrelevant. Here's where we stand. We , my husband and I are now moving back to India, for an indefinite period of time ( 3yrs - Life!) and I am more than a little freaked out. And also a lost. I just do not feel like I am "coming home". We have lived away from India for so long, and vacations here were just that - vacations - with relatives and visiting old friends, and everyone being so hospitable for the few weeks every other year. Now, this time will be different. Am I crazy to feel a little scared here? Of moving "back". setting up home, being expected to "know" everything  - despite everything having changed over the past couple of decades. ugh.
